At the beginning of 2016, we took on a project in Heath, Texas. This project was very large and had steep inclines on the roof. The Finished Work Roofing Company had to use scaffolding to ensure the safety of our team members. We installed a green, flat TPO roof, as well as replaced all flashing. TPO, or thermoplastic polyolefin, is a single-ply roofing membrane designed to reinforce and cover a flat roof. Installing a TPO roofing system can save property owners money on their energy bill because TPO has a white color, which reflects UV rays away from the commercial building.
The property’s old roof had no decking, so the roof was professionally installed on steel rafters, also known as purlins. The lack of decking with the previous roof is typical of large commercial structures, but it makes the roof installation process much longer and more difficult. This is because workers have to walk on the steel beams, which are a few feet apart in the air. Despite these challenges, our team successfully completed the roof installation and the property owner is very happy with their roof.
